Sarah Koik began her studio 7 years ago with a goal of creating singular objects that are both sculptural and functional. Prior to this she had a professional career in science museums and informal learning, both of which deeply informed how she approaches her practice with referential rigor and open-ended inquiry. She hopes to bring attention to things that often go unnoticed, and to make space for thoughtful objects in everyday life. Her pieces are both referential and adding to the narrative-- new while familiar, serious while playful. Somehow timeless while timely. Sarah has a degree in studio art and lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
