Jennifer Alden has always been drawn to objects with a history, a patina, those marks that others have made, the many lives that have been lived. Vertu patched, repaired, threadbare, rusted, and unearthed. In the work she creates, she evokes connections to another time with its long lost relics rediscovered.
Engaging a variety of skills she’s gleaned from curious exploration (weaving, stitching, felt making, leatherwork, and surface design), she creates both small and large-scale sculptures incorporating objects from the natural world.
She currently works from studios in California and Montana.
