Nam is the Korean word for South – which points towards Chloe’s South Korean heritage as well as her reverence and study in the ways of indigenous cultures from the Amazon in South America. These forms were made with connection to Chloe’s roots and ancestors in mind, with an aim to usher in unity, harmony and peace within the space of the present moment. Each piece is imperfectly imperfect, with nods to the textures of the soil and rivers of the Amazon rainforest and the sea urchins of Jeju Island off the peninsula of South Korea. In addition, even more inspiration is drawn upon the lava that is frozen in time from the active volcano, Kīlauea, on the Big Island of Hawai’i and the colors of the coral and sea creatures from the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
